Cooperating In Our Health Care
Funny thing pain, if you’ve never had a severe pain then the suggestion of taking simple analgesia and resting the affected area all seems quite reasonable. I was reminded of this when I read recently of a doctor’s advice to someone who was suffering from sciatica. Having personally experienced sciatica, it’s a condition I would not recommend to anyone who wishes to walk, sit, laugh, sleep, or to just simply Read more…

Why not get a face lift?.
Hate those wrinkles?,is sagging skin starting to bother you?, would you like to wind back the years a bit?,then why not try Cosmetic Surgery to remove that excess fat and make those facial muscles tighter. The Facelift or Rhitydectomy is the fifth most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in the world. The operation itself consists of various incisions and a undermining processes. Under anesthesia a cut is made from behind the ear and ends near the hairline on the backdrop of the ear, surgeons start separating the skin from the inner tissue under the neck, cheeks and chin. Once happy with the newly tightened look the area is then stitched, any excess skin is then removed and the open area stitched. The scar left by the facelift operation is generally hidden in the hairline area to avoid detection from prying eyes.It is also very important that not too much skin is removed or else in some cases this could lead to a very unatural appearance.People considering undertaking a facelift should try to make sure that they are in as good health as possible including restricting their alcohol levels and cutting down or even better ceasing smoking alltogether.Keeping your hair as long as possible will help to hide scars and also understand that you will inevitably be laid up for some time to let your new face heal. Consult your own doctor and see if he could recommend a suitable surgeon to refer you to and make sure that you are one hundred percent certain that Cosmetic Surgery is for you. check out www.gogetcosmeticsurgery.com © 2009-JayJeffers.all right reserved.to republish this post a link must be included

Emphysema
Pulmonary Emphysema is a serious and debilitating disease of the lungs in which the lungs ability to supply oxygenated blood is gradually reduced causing extreme breathlessness after only the slightest amount of exertion. The lungs contain tiny air sacks called Alveoli which, along with the narrow passages leading to them (bronchioles) become permanently distended with air, blood vessels are reduced and lung tissues lose their elasticity.
Smoking is one of the most prominent causes of Pulmonary Emphysema but various forms of the disease can also be caused by continuous exposure to dust or high levels of pollution and indeed not necessarily connected to smoking. Bronchitis sufferers may well develop Emphysema and as a result of mucus produced in response to smoke or other irritants may well contribute to a weakening of the lungs elastic tissues.
The most obvious symptom of Pulmonary emphysema is the breathlessness brought on by very little exertion followed by coughing.Eating may become difficult as chewing and swallowing is made harder by the lack of breath and some discomfort may be felt after a meal as the lungs expand pushing the diaphragm into the stomach.A loss of appetite may also occur, also the lack of oxygen in the blood may produce cyanosis, signified by a blue coloration in the skin which is most prominent under the fingernails and on the lips which as time goes on becomes worse.
There is of yet no cure for pulmonary emphysema but with treatment it`s progress can be significantly slowed.Smokers should cease immediately, drugs that open up the airways may well be prescribed to help the patient with breathing as would the intake of pure oxygen.Advice on different diet and very mild fitness regimes may also help.

Colic in babies
Colic is an abdominal pain that usually occurs in the first four months of life. It is believed that the intestines go into spasm but as yet this has not been proven.
Your baby will have bouts of pain, often after a feed, and will scream and draw his legs inwards to his tummy. The majority of cases clear with nothing more than a good ‘burping’ session after feeding. Rhythmic rocking or swaying can help, as can extremely light pressure on the tummy from being placed over your shoulder or over your knee whilst patting the back gently. Though do be prepared that it might take some time to comfort your baby and this is just as distressing for you the parent. Some babies appear more prone to colic than others and you may see a pattern building around which you can plan your day.
However, one word of warning, there are other much more serious conditions that can cause the same symptoms eg. an Inguinal Hernia; Intussusception; Appendicitis to name but a few. DO bear this in mind and if your ‘gut feeling’ as a parent tells you that something is not right then get it checked out straight away. Your parental instinct is something that any good Doctor should respect and even if they don’t you know that you are doing the very best by your child.

Angina (detection and treatment.
Angina Pectoral ,(Angina) is a particular type of chest pain related to the heart. To any person experiencing chest pain, the major concern is to ascertain whether the pain being experienced is indeed a heart attack or maybe one of the other numerous reasons for chest pains ranging from less life threatening to extremely dangerous.Until diagnosed properly, all chest pains should be classed as being serious and immediate treatment should be sought.
Symptoms
Some of the most prominent symptoms of Angina are listed below.
- Chest Pain
Usually starts in the centre of the chest behind the breastbone and can spread to other parts such as the lower left arm sometimes spreading to the right arm also, maybe a feeling of numbness or tingling in the arms,(usually the left side).Patients sometimes complain of a crushing feeling to the chest which can also feel constricted and tight.
Constricting sensation in the throat.
Shortness off breath during or following exercise.
Stable or Unstable Angina?.
With stable Angina the symptoms occur at very predictable times and patterns, usually after a certain amount of exertion without much change over a long period and normally responds to a period of rest or medication such as nitrates(nitroglycerin) and symptoms only normally last for about 5 minutes.
Unstable Angina sufferers complain of onset of pain becoming more severe, more frequent and severe pains brought about by little or no exertion, having to limit their physical activities and also pain does not seem to diminish through either a period of rest or from taking nitroglycerins.
Prognosis
There are many different treatments available to Angina sufferers and indeed many ways that the patient him/herself can lower the effects or risks of Angina attacks. The most important points to remember is that there are numerous reasons for chest related pain and Angina is only one of them but it is very clear that any pain must be investigated at the earliest opportunity so as to give the best possible chance of successful treatment.

Blood Pressure
Low blood pressure,or Hypotension is a very uncommon condition which normally occurs as a result of acute infection or maybe blood loss after an accident,an acute infection or maybe caused by shock from a heart attack.Addisons disease sufferers may extremely rarely suffer from Hypotension but can be treated with a course of drugs.
The most severe being Hypertension,or high blood pressure which is a stark warning signal and needs to be treated at the earliest opportunity. The arteries that carry the blood from the heart to the tissues of the body and back to the heart again are under continual stress. If the pressure within the system is raised,(Hypertension) the stress increases and could lead to the developement of Arteriosclerosis,(narrowing of the arteries).
Continual untreated high blood pressure can severely increase the likelyhood of strokes or heart attacks compared to someone with normal blood pressure, add smoking or high cholestorol levels to the equation and the risks increase dramatically.
Things like too high an intake of salt, high levels of stress and obesity are also associated with Hypertension. To reduce the chances of severe ilness it is advisable that all persons over the age of 35 have regular blood pressure tests so increasing early detection of any symptoms and allowing the patient to be treated as soon as possible.
