Some of the problems associated with acid reflux are the experience of symptoms such as a sour taste, burning sensation in the chest or upper abdomen and the back of your throat, excessive belching, breathing difficulties, tightness of throat, difficulty in swallowing food, and signs of bad breath.
If you experience some or all of these symptoms, then you may well be suffering from acid reflux. A visit to your doctor may become necessary to obtain an accurate diagnosis, and to understand the severity of your condition.
A number of beverages and foods which are thought to cause acid reflux are listed below.

- coffee
- spearmint and peppermint
- fatty foods and fried foods
- onions
- citrus fruits
- spicy foods
- products which are tomato-based
- caffeinated drinks
Making substantial changes to your diet is the most effective way to deal with acid reflux. At first you may struggle with no longer being able to indulge in certain foods but the health benefits far outweigh the loss.
The best way thing you can do to start with is to keep a record of everything that you eat,by doing so it will enable you to look back and very easily be able to spot the food that was responsible for the latest acid reflux symptoms.Once you start to build up a list of troublesome foodstuffs it will make it that much easier for you to be able to stay clear of these and therefore prevent acid reflux.
